In June 2016, together with our long-term project partner, W2 Development GmbH, we acquired the “Alte Bahndirektion” development site, one of the most sought-after property development areas in Stuttgart’s city center. The nearly 13,400-sqm site now features only the listed and currently vacant head building of the Stuttgart railway headquarters, as well as an administrative and technical building leased to the railway. In collaboration with the City of Stuttgart, an urban planning competition was held to determine the zoning rights for the site and the surrounding areas. The competition aimed to include office, retail, and dining spaces, as well as residential units. Following the conclusion of the competition, the “Alte Bahndirektion” development site was sold at the end of 2017 to the P+B Group, based in St. Augustin near Bonn.
